N5 Asset Monitoring FAQ

Battery life is a function of cellular signal strength, reporting frequency that is configured on the device. The more often the device is configured to report the data to the application, the lower the battery life. If the application requires very responsive monitoring, then the reporting frequency will be set such that the device reports every 15 minutes or even less. But if the updates are not needed that often, the reporting frequency can be set to 60 minutes or even more and this will enhance the battery life significantly.

Nimble Devices have the option to store and forward sensor data. When cellular connectivity is interrupted, the device stores the data internally and as soon as the cellular connectivity is resumed, the stored data is sent out to the cloud application.

The battery status is indicated in the IRIS application as well as alerts can be set to get alerted on a low battery condition. For example, if you want to be alerted if the device battery reaches 20% or less, you can set a low battery alert with the threshold at 20% and you will receive a text/email alert as soon as the battery falls to 20%.

Temperature data loggers provide only a post-mortem report. That is they only record the temperature data and do not send them in real time. So one has to wait until the shipment is received for retrieving the data by connecting the data loggers to a laptop or computer. Nimble devices monitor the temperature and send the data through the cellular network to the cloud in real-time so that it can be accessed anytime, anywhere. In addition to this, our devices also give alerts to a mobile phone via text or by e-mail as soon as there is a temperature deviation. Know the difference

Nimble temperature monitoring devices can operate in temperatures from -40⁰C to 100⁰C (-40⁰F to 212⁰F) based on the model. Please check the store page for the actual models and temperature range/accuracy supported.

The data usage depends on the monitoring frequency and number of parameters monitored, but typically the devices will consume 1 – 10 MB of cellular data every month.

Yes, IRIS application is supported on the iOS and Android platforms and is available on the Apple app store as well as Google Play store.
